Bonn, 03.09.2024 – AI startup Tomorrow Things welcomes Prof. Dr. Peter Hofmann to its Industry Advisory Board. Hofmann's deep knowledge of the automotive, robotics, and manufacturing industries will be instrumental in realizing Tomorrow Things' goal of universal machine connectivity through Digital Twins, the essential foundation for AI applications.

Mission to become the de facto standard for Digital Twins

Prof. Dr. Hofmann brings 30 years of leadership in industrial automation, manufacturing and robotics to Tomorrow Things. His leadership experience with companies like Festo, Krones, and KUKA will help guide Tomorrow Things’ vision for Digital Twins and machine connectivity.

One of the forefathers of Industry 4.0

After several years as a development engineer at Mercedes Benz, Hofmann joined Festo AG in 2010 and took over their process automation business unit. Later he was appointed CTO of Festo AG, where he shaped their Industry 4.0 strategy and played a pivotal role in delivering the company to the digital age while overseeing 18,500 employees and €3 billion in revenue.

He continued to advance his career as CTO at Krones AG, Neutraubling (2017–2019). Krones is a world market leader in manufacturing high-end systems and machines for filling and packaging of beverages and liquid foodstuffs with 16,500 employees and €4 billion in revenue.

From 2019 to 2021, he served as a Member of the Board of Management at KUKA AG, Augsburg and Shanghai, where he directed innovation across five divisions of this industrial robotics giant, overseeing 16,000 employees and €4 billion in revenue.

"Dr. Hofmann’s experience and his established network in family-owned businesses within the manufacturing industry will be invaluable as we navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead," said Oliver Habisch, CEO of Tomorrow Things. "His expertise in providing strategic direction, combined with his extensive experience in automation, process control, and OT/IT, perfectly aligns with our go-to-market strategy for driving further growth and innovation.”

Universal machine connectivity

"I am excited to join the Advisory Board of Tomorrow Things and contribute to the company’s future success," said Hofmann. “In the evolving landscape of production, data is the new currency. Standardized data acquisition and processing are crucial for unlocking the full potential of AI and driving significant improvements in efficiency and quality. Tomorrow Things' technology offers a groundbreaking approach to data accessibility, which is essential for realizing these benefits. I am eager to collaborate with the team to shape the future of manufacturing.”

Hofmann’s addition strengthens Tomorrow Things’ leadership in manufacturing. The company’s Digital Twin technology offers rapid, cost-effective, and secure machine connectivity, saving manufacturers up to 90% on digitalization costs through standardization and auto-provisioning.

Standardized Digital Twins automate industrial communications

Hofmann summarizes: “The Tomorrow Things team has a visionary approach to revolutionizing industrial automation. By offering plug and play access to critical operating data, they are laying the groundwork for a new era of manufacturing - automating industrial automation itself. Once a laborious, error-prone manual task is now possible in just one click with the power of AI driven Digital Twins.

Their solution serves as a universal translator, connecting machines, devices, and enterprise software, including MES and ERP platforms. This interconnected ecosystem empowers businesses to effortlessly create and benefit from Digital Twins of their assets, from individual components to entire production lines. Tomorrow Things isn't simply a technology company; they're accelerating the shift to Industry 4.0 by building the data infrastructure essential for current and future AI tools & applications.”
