Register Machine

Register Machine

Once you have connected your Edge Gateway to your machine, the next step is to register your machine in Things OS. The machine's OPC UA server is then connected to Things OS and can transfer data.

Necessary requirements

The Hilscher Compact Edge Gateway must be installed.

The machine must be switched on and ready for operation.

The OPC UA server of the machine must be accessible from the gateway. You can check this with a ping test. Use the terminal of your service PC for this:
(nc -zv <IP address> <OPC UA port>).

01

Connect Source

Log in to Things OS.

Under “Sources”, go to “Connect Source” at the top.

Now enter your hardware ID of your gateway in the "Onboarding Key” field in Things OS. The hardware ID is printed on the outside of the gateway and also on the box supplied.

Then enter the access data for the machine's OPC UA server.

Your machine is now successfully registered in Things OS. You can see this under “Sources” by the green status light..

02

Transferring the Initial Structure of the Machine

You can now wait a moment until the initial structure of the OPC UA server has been transferred to the platform. It will then appear in the left-hand area when you click on your source.
